About Me

Hi, I’m Bethany — a writer, mother, and the creator of Boundaries & Burnout.

My background includes navigating a childhood marked by instability, becoming a young parent, and spending nine years in a workplace that demanded more than it ever gave back. These experiences shaped my understanding of burnout, resilience, and the cost of living in survival mode for far too long.

After leaving that environment, I chose to shift my focus toward healing, self-reflection, and rebuilding a life grounded in healthier boundaries — both for myself and for my family. This website grew from that process. Here, I share writing, personal insights, and practical reflection tools designed to support others who are confronting overwhelm, breaking old patterns, or simply trying to reconnect with themselves.

My work is rooted in honesty, clarity, and a deep belief that everyone deserves space to heal and grow — no matter where they’re starting from.

Thank you for taking the time to be here. I hope you find something that supports your own journey forward.

With Love,

My Journey of Healing

I grew up learning how to be strong before I ever learned how to be soft.

My childhood taught me that love was something you earned — through obedience, hard work, or silence. I learned to read the room before I could read a book, and to put other people’s comfort ahead of my own.

I became the helper, the fixer, the one who held things together.

No one meant to teach me that my needs didn’t matter — but that’s what I learned anyway.

And like so many of us, I carried those lessons into adulthood. I showed up even when I was tired. I said “it’s fine” when it wasn’t. I worked hard, loved hard, and lost myself somewhere in the middle of it all.

Looking back now, I see that what I called “strength” was really survival.

Healing, for me, has meant going back to that little girl who was always trying to be enough — and teaching her that she already was.

She didn’t need to be quieter, smaller, or more accommodating. She just needed to feel safe being herself.

Today, I write for her — and for anyone who grew up believing they had to earn their worth.

Childhood Roots
Finding Strength

For a long time, I thought strength meant holding everything together — being the one who didn’t crumble no matter how much it hurt.

I wore that kind of strength like armor. I smiled through exhaustion, said yes when I wanted to say no, and convinced myself that pushing through was proof of resilience.

But strength isn’t just endurance. It’s awareness.

My real strength showed up the day I started telling the truth — when I admitted I was tired, overwhelmed, and ready to stop living on autopilot.

It showed up in the moments I chose to rest instead of rush, to speak up instead of shrink, and to walk away from what kept breaking me.

I learned that the bravest thing I could do wasn’t keep going — it was let go.

Strength, I’ve realized, is soft. It’s quiet. It’s the kind of power that grows in stillness and heals in honesty.

These days, my strength looks different. It’s boundaries and self-respect. It’s trusting that I can build a life rooted in peace, not survival.

And maybe that’s what healing really is — remembering that I was never meant to carry it all alone.
